Building a Conchalele neck & fretboard.....

Building a Conchalele neck & fretboard takes time..  Made the neck thick as to not have a truss rod for this small instrument.  Maybe next time I'll slim down the thickness and add one.  Final result plays well.......

a Bob Dylan quote for budding musicians out there.........

I've just learned an old song named "Let it Be Me".  It was done by the Everly Brothers, Elvis, Bob Dylan, and many more recording artist thru the years.

I like Bob Dylan's quote about it.  It applys to all artists........... new and old.....

"Each song has its own secret and needs teasing out."

It means let your gifts bring out the realness of the song...........  Everyone has them!

Conchalele begins to form at the kitchen table.......

Conchalele starts to come together for the first time at the kitchen table!  The mahogany neck was first shaped with a band saw, then the fretboard was slotted & shaped with TLC.  Inlays were done before the frets wired.....  Then three months of experiments and patients......

Conchalele begins at the kitchen table......

The Conchalele concept began to take shape at the kitchen table.  The mahogany neck was roughed with a band saw.  The rose wood fretboard was slotted for the baritone uke and inlays done.  After this photo the work began.  Fitting the neck to the shell!  Then the finish work.......  Three months all together.....  The first one was a good learning experience, testing so many times..  How to drill and shape the shell?

Schooners and Pirates in the Wreckers Races....

Schooners, Schooners everywhere you look!  Sailboat racing in the Wreckers Race is unbelievably fun to see the huge competition so near your hull!  The Jolly II Rover is my absolute favorite Schooner.....  They have sunset sails each evening for a very low cost and the crew is fantastic!  They really believe they're pirates!  They really do!  Cannon shots and all.....

Sister Sue sailing the Wreckers Race in Key West......

Boca Chica Friends!

Here's a toast to Boca Chica friends!  Richard Burton, in the middle, has been so instrumental in establishing this website and blog!  He is a genius about this stuff......  Thanks Shipmate for all you do to help the world hear about the Conchalele!

Dave Arnold is toasting too.  He's got too many skills to mention, especially being a super photographer and competitive sailor.  He introduced me to the Community Sailing Center in Key West where he races almost every Sunday.  Last Sunday he won three of the four competitions!

I have so many true friends with so many skills much of this blog will be about them!

Thanks Shipmates!

Conchalele Bob

Thanks to Guitar Center!

Thank you friends!  The Guitar Center in Fort Myers has some incredably gifted and talented people!  Just today I went there for audio training and met Charles Hudson.  He is one of the audio master guru teachers there.  He's a brain full of techo everything....

The pix above is Connor and Denise.  They were instrumental in getting the perfect elcectonic mike and wireless cord system!  Without them the Conchalele would not have the voice it has..

Thank all of you great people for your expertise and dedicated assistance for every musician that walks thru your doors!

Cayo Costa Island state park in my favorite island beach. Nine miles of natural raw Florida takes you back in time to when Spanish conquestadores tried to colonize the Calousa Indians.  The Calousa didn't agree and were fierce warriors.  They delivered Ponce De Leon to his destiny while he was searching for the fountain of youth!
